SID Roots #1 - Warhawk

I'll try, every so often, to make a preview of the great and cool SID tunes we all love alongside the original tunes they're based on, compare covers and sometimes show where these SID songs have been used at some later date.
Think of it as an additional tool alongside the STIL.TXT (SID Tune Information List) from the High Voltage Sid Collection (HVSC). After all, I've found most of the info in that little file, although I've stumbled across a couple of tunes on my own, by sheer accident.

For starters, here's Rob Hubbard's Warhawk (title song for the game with the same name).
The tune is heavily based on John Keating's 1975 album Space Experience. Namely, The Unknown Planet and Space Agent songs.

Original STIL info:

COMMENT: This appears to be a superset of /MUSICIANS/H/Hubbard_Rob/Proteus.sid. The identical bit starts at 0:18.

Mr. Hubbard is kinda infamous for his use of various tunes for his songs but I don't mind that at all. Although, when starting to dig through the history of my favorite C64 tunes I've come across many songs that actually weren't original SID tunes but inspired, covered or downright ripped off. So you could say this was a bit of a "childhood rape", surprise situation for me. Still, I've really only grown to love all these songs even more and I've learned and discovered a lot more of the great music of the mid-to-late 20th century. It's wonderful to see what composers were an inspiration to these SID musicians and to the music world of the 80's and 90's in general.

All of this helps to see the bigger picture of the history of music and how it has developed to these modern days.

Original SID song is a recording from a real Commodore 64 SID chip, downloaded from http://soasc.dirtcellar.net/.
